I recently attended my first conference for women in technology (the Grace Hopper Celebration) and was blown away by how exciting it was to be surrounded by so many smart, awesome women in tech. I love hiking in the fresh air of mountain and sea, and want to join with other women in exploring hiking trails in Santa Cruz and neighboring counties. The goal is to get good exercise, enjoy good company, and experience the serenity of the great outdoors. A few years ago, I decided to write a book for women focused on building a general understanding of car maintenance and repair, and what to watch out for when dealing with unknown mechanics and auto repair.  Why the book?
